Health

Dreaming of a society that is mentally, physically, and socially well.

“We are working to improve rural health centers by providing the necessary health supplies and essential medicines based on the support and funds we receive”.

Why do we dedicate our efforts to Rural Health?

In Nepal, rural areas struggle with limited health education, especially for young girls, leading to serious health risks. Poor nutrition, hygiene, and under-equipped health centres make things worse. Traditional beliefs and gender inequality also block access to healthcare, particularly for women. Improving health education and resources is key to better health in these communities; At Nirmala Foundation, we focus on three critical areas to bring the change:

Healthcare Challenges

Limited Public Health Education

In rural Nepal, public health education is severely lacking, particularly in underserved areas. Many people, especially women and children, are unaware of basic hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare practices. This gap in education leads to the spread of preventable diseases, maternal health risks, and poor overall health outcomes. By raising awareness and providing essential health education, we empower individuals, especially women and girls, to make informed choices about their health.

Traditional Beliefs and Socio-Cultural Barriers

Traditional beliefs and socio-cultural norms in rural Nepal often hinder healthcare access, especially for women and girls. These customs discourage seeking medical help and promote ineffective remedies. Gender inequality further limits their autonomy in health decisions. We actively work to challenge and reshape harmful cultural norms, advocating for equitable healthcare access regardless of gender.

Insufficient Medical Equipment and Medications

Many rural health centers in Nepal lack funding, medical tools, and medications, making it hard to treat common illnesses. Health workers struggle with outdated equipment, forcing patients to travel far in the city for proper care. We are dedicated to improving rural health centers by providing the necessary health supplies and essential medicines based on the support and funds we receive.
